    Holistic = Mind/Body/Spirit = One

    The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines holism as "a theory that the universe and especially living nature is correctly seen in terms of interacting wholes (as of living organisms) that are more than the mere sum of elementary particles".

    The holistic health model regards the aspects of a human being that we in the West have customarily identified as Mind, Body, and Spirit to be one, functioning as a seamless whole in the manifestation of states of wellness and dis-ease.  To comprehensively treat an individual requires an understanding of how all aspects of the person are involved in manifesting the symptom picture.

     You are whole, so be treated that way.

    The Asian medical model takes our Western concept of holism a step further, recognizing the interaction of the individual with the natural world around her. As homeostatic beings our Mind/Body/Spirit is constantly seeking to balance us.  The influence of the forces of Nature come in an infinite number of forms, and provides the outside forces that challenge our state of balance.  Simultaneously, Life is a dynamic experience, created anew in each moment.  Therefore, balance must be understood to likewise be a dynamic state, ever changing and adjusting.  Certainly the inability to adjust and manifest a responsive state of balance suggests the state of Death, though even in death the elements are dynamic in their own right.

     Explore and understand your unique, dynamic balance.

    Transformation of discomforts, "dis-ease", and difficulties into the deepest resonance of wholeness requires a holistic approach that honors, aligns, and weaves together all the elements that compose us. Too often symptoms are treated or managed to silence the Self rather than to address the wellbeing of the whole person.  Our experience of wellness and wholeness must include the integration of experiences of all kinds - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual - to contribute to our maximum blossoming.

                     My committment to you -

    For these reasons it is my commitment to you to assist you in discovering the whole picture of your state of dynamic balance.  Recognition of the innate and intimate connection between all aspects of your Self,  your constitutional tendencies, the influences of your lifestyle on your wellness, and greater awareness of your interdependence with the natural world will inspire you on the adventure of profound wholeness which is yours if you desire.  The ancient peoples of  Asia called this Tao, the essential principle of being in harmony both within and without.
